The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico announces its 2027 cycle will open December 1, 2026, for education beginning in fall 2027. Its portfolio spans college, graduate study, vocational training, and professional certificates, with funds focused on nursing, health, English-language study, service, and specific fields. Eligibility varies by fund.
The guide says applicants must be actively enrolled; high-school applicants must be seniors. The foundation invites candidates at different stages and lists opportunities for students with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC students, single mothers, returning learners, and people pursuing technical careers. These categories describe some funds, not a guarantee that every award serves the same applicants or majors.
The foundation announces new 2027 awards and many donor funds with separate terms, including support tied to NMSU, Doña Ana Community College, local schools, and specific programs. Before choosing a category, read each listing for eligible campus, GPA, residency, and need. A common application can gather multiple opportunities but may require additional materials for a particular fund.
Create an account early and use a personal email address you will keep after graduation. Prepare academic records, enrollment proof, FAFSA information if requested, and responses about your goals. Do not assume FAFSA is enough for every award: donor-defined scholarships have their own instructions. For questions, use the foundation’s scholarship contact and consult your campus financial-aid office.
Confirm the academic year, applicant group, local deadline and time, and documents others must submit. Keep copies and confirmations. Ask your school’s financial-aid office how the scholarship coordinates with FAFSA, grants, and other support.
Read the aid-program profile and the FAFSA guide; verify with the institution how funding is coordinated.
