The page describing the 2026–27 cycle says Saginaw did not require the FAFSA Student Aid Index to assess need for that application and instead used its own financial questionnaire. That rule belongs to the prior cycle; the foundation has not confirmed whether it will carry over to 2027. When the portal opens November 1, check the new cycle’s financial-need documents. That does not remove FAFSA as a requirement for Pell Grant, TIP, Michigan Achievement, or other federal or state aid that requires it. Students should track both processes separately.
The form and supporting documents must be submitted online before the deadline; a saved draft is not a filed application. The foundation advises completing required fields and checking each award description for renewal, eligible programs, and payment arrangements. A college financial-aid office can explain how an award affects the overall aid package.
Confirm the academic year, applicant group, local deadline and time, and documents others must submit. Keep copies and confirmations. Ask your school’s financial-aid office how the scholarship coordinates with FAFSA, grants, and other support.
