The Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship is for students who want to pursue fraud examination, forensic accounting, or a related field. For 2027–28, the ACFE Foundation lists four award levels ranging from $2,000 to $10,000; it is not an automatic grant or a general scholarship for every major. The organization says funds go to the educational institution, so ask the school how the award is applied to the account and whether it can be combined with other aid.

The application period runs from September 1, 2026, through February 1, 2027. Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university and remain enrolled through the 2027–28 academic year. Second-year community college students who have completed an associate degree may apply if they are enrolled at a four-year institution. The published course-load minimum is nine credits per term for undergraduates and six for graduate students; high-school students and students graduating in 2027 are not eligible because applicants must continue studying through 2028.

Along with the application, the foundation requires official transcripts and two recommendations from professors or people familiar with the applicant’s professional work. Review considers demonstrated interest in an anti-fraud career, academic merit, and a complete submission. The published schedule says awards will be distributed in May 2027. Applicants can prepare by explaining, with concrete examples, how their studies connect to fraud prevention, detection, or investigation—without presenting career aspirations as experience already earned.

Before applying, confirm the correct cohort, time zone, documents your school must submit, and whether funds are applied to tuition or other costs. Your institution’s financial-aid office can explain how the award interacts with FAFSA and outside scholarships.

Read the aid-program profile and the FAFSA guide; your institution’s financial-aid office can verify your individual case.
