Queens covers more than one convenient soccer radius. Hollis, Bayside, Fresh Meadows and Forest Hills are served by different fields, and a club’s mailing address may not be where a child trains. For a preschooler, the immediate decision can be a single introductory session; older players can choose between open neighborhood play and a tryout-based travel roster. The borough’s key distinction is between a program offered by an MLS organization and local nonprofits that manage recurring seasons close to home.
NYCFC City Roots in Hollis lists a winter session for ages 3–6 on January 4, 2027, at the NYC Muslim Center, 90-20 191st Street. The club publishes 6:30–8:30 p.m. and a $295 fee. Its program introduces movement, basic ball skills and small-sided games; it is not an academy tryout. Families should use the Queens registration item because NYCFC lists separate dates and prices for Long Island City and other locations.
Auburndale Soccer Club reaches several northeast Queens neighborhoods with First Kicks for ages 2–5, no-tryout Intramural soccer for ages 5–13 and a selected Premier Travel program for U8–U16. Its intramural sessions use Cunningham Park’s 73rd Avenue field complex; travel tryouts and some team sessions use Fort Totten Park in Bayside. The club says registration is not currently open, and its site does not publish current fees on the pages reviewed. Forest Hills Youth Athletic Association is a separate volunteer-run option with fall soccer at Fleet Street Fields. Its 2026 season has begun; ask whether a late place is available before visiting.
New York City FC play in MLS, the top U.S. men’s division. In 2026 the team split home matches between Yankee Stadium in the Bronx and Citi Field in Queens, with only some games in the borough. The planned Queens stadium had not opened yet. This means a Queens youth program may be community-run even when the professional club plays nearby; it does not automatically feed into the academy. The three profiles make those distinctions clearer by showing age, setting and commitment side by side.
Before registering, check the child’s age group, the date on which the next season begins, whether the club requires a tryout and which park or indoor facility will host the session. Use the named venue—not a club office—for the route. NYCFC’s City Roots page lists the January enrollment, while Auburndale’s field guide explains which programs use Cunningham Park and Fort Totten. For Forest Hills, contact the soccer delegate through the association’s own page.
Confirm the child’s team, current field assignment and full season cost before registering.
