Which Peruvian consulate serves Northern California and several western states from San Francisco?

The San Francisco office covers five states and designated Northern California counties. We explain its jurisdiction, services, required appointment channels, hours and how to read public experiences without treating them as a guarantee.

The Consulate General of Peru in San Francisco is at 870 Market Street, Suite 1075, in the James Flood Building, San Francisco, CA 94102. Its official page lists weekday hours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., an information telephone number and a separate emergency line. The office is near Union Square, and the Maps listing matches its address, building, phone and consular website.

The jurisdiction includes Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada and Oregon, as well as Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and other Northern California counties listed on the official page. It does not cover all of California: nine southern counties belong to Los Angeles, and residents elsewhere should consult the consular district table. Alaska and Hawaii are included in San Francisco’s listed territory, so the correct office should not be inferred from distance alone.

The office publishes services for biometric passports, DNI, notarial procedures and public deeds, civil registration, visas, legalisations and assistance. Contact routes are divided: the page gives separate email addresses for DNI, records, powers of attorney, visas and legal matters, as well as a passport appointment link. It expressly says all procedures require an appointment; published building hours do not mean a walk-in visit will complete a case.

For a passport, use the current appointment link and read the specific instructions for biometric capture, documents and collection. For a power of attorney or civil registration, write to the relevant mailbox rather than the emergency contact. The office also publishes mobile consular sessions outside San Francisco; each notice specifies dates and available procedures, so a past outreach event should not be treated as a future schedule.

Visible Google Maps experiences are mixed. Some recent comments praise staff courtesy and helpful responses in particular cases; others express frustration with availability, communication or appointment organisation. These are individual accounts and cannot be generalized to every employee or appointment. The practical takeaway is to confirm the correct channel in writing, bring documents in the requested order and check whether the finished document must be collected later.

The consulate also supports cultural programming. In February 2026, Peru’s Foreign Ministry documented a San Francisco-hosted talk on the history of Pisco Punch; the official photograph shows a consular representative beside the Peruvian flag during the presentation. It is a direct visual reference to institutional activity, not a photograph of the service counter. Visitors seeking an appointment should follow consular instructions rather than confuse a public event with document-service hours.

The jurisdiction, contacts and event photograph are collected in the Consulate General of Peru in San Francisco profile. If the procedure cannot be handled remotely, confirm both your appointment and jurisdiction before booking travel, particularly from Alaska, Hawaii or Oregon.

Research checked on October 18, 2026 against Peru’s Foreign Ministry, consular procedures, official institutional images and exact Google Maps listings where identifiable. Jurisdictions, appointments, services and hours can change; check current official instructions before travelling. Ratings and review counts, where available, are stored as profile data and are not repeated in profile copy.

Bottom line

The San Francisco office serves four states in addition to its listed Northern California counties. Before visiting, confirm your address and procedure, request an appointment through the relevant channel and review the document checklist. Reviews describe varied individual experiences, so no single account guarantees the same outcome; careful preparation can help prevent an incomplete visit.
