Which Peruvian consulate serves my Florida county: Miami or Orlando?

Miami and Orlando have Peruvian consulates general with different jurisdictions; Tampa has an honorary consulate. This guide compares counties, published services, addresses and reviews, and explains what is—and is not—known about the passport photo camera.

Florida does not have one Peruvian office that automatically serves the entire state. Peru’s Foreign Ministry divides jurisdiction between Miami and Orlando and also maintains an honorary office in Tampa. Start with the county where you live, not just the city that seems closest: confirming jurisdiction before booking can prevent a long trip and a missed appointment.

The key change came in October 2025. Supreme Decree 043-2025-RE established Peru’s consular office in Orlando and assigned it 46 counties in northern and central Florida. By April 2026, the Embassy of Peru in the United States listed Orlando alongside Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Hartford, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paterson, Phoenix, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Seattle and Washington, D.C.—17 U.S. cities with Peruvian consulates. This national list helps locate offices; it does not mean every post publishes the same hours or procedures.

The boundaries fall into three groups. Miami serves Broward, Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Indian River, Lee, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties; its jurisdiction also includes Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Orlando serves Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Bay, Jackson, Calhoun, Gulf, Gadsden, Liberty, Franklin, Leon, Wakulla, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, Hamilton, Suwannee, Lafayette, Dixie, Columbia, Gilchrist, Levy, Citrus, Hernando, Baker, Union, Bradford, Alachua, Marion, Sumter, Nassau, Duval, Clay, Putnam, Lake, Polk, St. Johns, Flagler, Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Osceola and Brevard. Tampa’s honorary consul has jurisdiction over Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee and Sarasota. The county determines the proper office; Tampa’s honorary status should not be confused with a consulate general or an itinerant passport session.

The distinction matters most for passports. Miami’s adult passport page calls for an in-person appointment, a Peruvian DNI, a previous passport if available, a published cash fee of $70 and a prepaid certified USPS envelope. It expressly says there is no need to bring a photograph because it is taken at the consulate. That page was last modified on October 7, 2025, so reopen it before traveling to check whether the fee, accepted envelope or payment method has changed. Miami’s services index also lists adult and minor DNI applications, renewals, duplicates and corrections; birth, marriage and death registrations; powers of attorney and public deeds; signature legalizations; travel authorizations for minors; emergency travel documents, certificates of survival, visas to enter Peru and consular assistance. Requirements vary by procedure, and some require an appointment.

The Miami office is at 1401 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Coral Gables, Miami, FL 33134. Peru’s official directory lists public hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., telephone numbers (786) 713-2401 and (786) 713-2400, and informacion@consulado-peru.com. Its contact page distinguishes regular inquiries from emergency numbers; emergencies are not a channel for appointment questions. Recent favorable comments on the exact Maps listing describe patient handling of civil-record matters, clear guidance and efficient passport visits. They are individual accounts, not a promise about wait times or outcomes.

Orlando is now a formal post: a Peruvian resolution classifies it as a Consulate General, and Florida’s directory lists 121 S Orange Avenue, Suite 850 N, Orlando, FL 32801. Peru’s institutional page explains that consular offices handle notarial and registry acts, identity and travel documents, humanitarian assistance and rights guidance. However, Orlando’s public page does not currently expose a detailed local procedure list, counter hours or general telephone number. An email published for Peruvian election inquiries in 2026 is consultas@consuladoperuorlando.org; confirm that it is still appropriate for routine consular requests before relying on it. Google Maps has very few comments: one describes a passport renewal and another refers to DNI and passport services at the new office. This limited sample can inform what to ask, but it does not establish the current service menu or replace official appointment instructions.

On Miami’s passport camera, the evidence answers only part of the question. The consulate says it takes the biometric photo during the appointment, but does not publish how many devices it has or a schedule for moving them. Peru’s Foreign Ministry did document Miami’s itinerant Tampa sessions in September 2025, including biometric passport enrollment. Orlando was then formally established the following month and appears in the national 2026 list. We found no official confirmation, and none in the current reviews checked, that Miami has only one camera, that it is taken to Orlando, or that photo capture is therefore unavailable in Miami on Fridays or Mondays. The story could refer to a particular outreach session or an earlier period; it should not be treated as a current rule. Before booking travel or taking time off, check the appointment system and ask the passport section about photo capture on the exact date.

Tampa calls for a separate caution. A February 9, 2026 supreme resolution appointed an honorary consul and assigned Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee and Sarasota counties. But Florida’s public directory still shows a contact name and address different from those expected after Peru’s more recent appointment record; we also did not find a current Peruvian page confirming public counter hours at that location. Because of that discrepancy, we do not list Tampa as a passport-processing office or advise a visit without direct confirmation. Residents of its five counties should ask Miami or Orlando which office can perform the specific procedure and whether an officially announced itinerant session is available.

The practical route is simple: find your county in the list above; open the exact procedure on gob.pe and check documents, fees and appointment rules; confirm that the selected office handles it; then keep the appointment confirmation and official contact details. For a Miami passport, the published procedure says the photo is taken there, while availability on a particular day must be checked through the appointment system—not inferred from camera rumors. For Orlando, request the current procedure list and hours in writing before traveling. The profiles of Miami and Orlando compare their locations, jurisdictions and public feedback.

Information checked on October 18, 2026 against Peru’s Foreign Ministry, the Florida Department of State and Google Maps. Services, appointments, hours and jurisdictions can change; confirm the procedure with the office before traveling. Google rating and review count are stored as metadata and are not repeated in the profiles.

Bottom line

First check your county, then the official procedure page and the office’s appointment availability. Miami’s published passport procedure confirms that the photo is captured at the office; the claim about a single camera and unavailable weekdays is not supported by the evidence reviewed.
