The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship supports immigrants and children of immigrants pursuing graduate or professional study in the United States. The 2027 competition is open to applicants in many fields; it is not limited to science and does not require a particular university among accredited U.S. institutions. The foundation selects up to 30 Fellows each year through a national competition.
For the 2027 cycle, applicants must be age 30 or younger on October 29, 2026, and qualify as an immigrant or child of immigrants under the foundation’s documented definitions. They must also hold a bachelor’s degree by the start of the Fellowship and plan to study full-time in a graduate or professional program during 2027–28. Citizenship, permanent residence, asylum, refugee status, and prior U.S. schooling have specific rules; use the eligibility page rather than relying on a short summary.
The deadline is October 29, 2026, at 2 p.m. Eastern, including recommendation materials. The online application combines eligibility and background questions, transcripts, a résumé or CV, two essays, and three to five recommendations. Applicants may begin before receiving final admission, but must explain their plans; the foundation states it makes no deadline exceptions.
Each Fellow receives up to $90,000 in financial support over two years, subject to program terms, and joins a network and foundation activities. That headline amount is not unrestricted cash: check how tuition and stipend support are structured and which expenses the Fellowship recognizes. Before applying, verify that the graduate program is full-time and that you can document New American status using accepted records.
Confirm the academic year, local deadline and time, who must submit each document, and whether supplemental questions remain. Keep confirmations and recheck the portal after submitting. Ask the school’s financial-aid office how FAFSA, outside awards, and payments coordinate.
Read the aid-program profile and the FAFSA guide; confirm with the institution how funding is coordinated.
