New Haven Promise 2027: eligibility, service hours, and the December 23 deadline

The Class of 2027 application is open; review attendance, GPA, service, renewal, and how the award is calculated.

New Haven Promise is based on local school history and residence. The Class of 2027 portal is open and lists December 23, 2026 as the closing date. Read the program profile before starting so you can gather attendance, transcript, and service records.

The main path requires attendance at New Haven public or approved charter schools in grades 9–12, city residence, 90% attendance, a 3.0 weighted GPA, and 40 approved service hours. Passport to Promise is a separate option for some students with lower GPAs. Ask your counselor to verify that school records were reported correctly.

The amount depends on college, years living in and attending local schools, and Pell Grant. Figures published for the Class of 2024 are not promises for 2027. Review your current award package; the program also includes advising, college preparation, and career opportunities.

Submit the senior application at app.newhavenpromise.org. Use a personal email, save credentials and confirmation, and arrange parent authorization if you are a minor. Students who pledged earlier should continue that account. The listed date is December 23, 2026; the program lists info@newhavenpromise.org and 203-776-6473.

Renewal requires FAFSA when possible, SAP, 12 new credits each semester, a 2.0 GPA, and an annual MOU. Confirm that your college participates and which charges are covered; do not assume housing, books, or all costs are paid. Do not budget 2027 using figures from earlier cohorts.
