The Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship is Nevada aid for graduates who meet academic criteria and attend a participating in-state institution. The State Treasurer describes a lifetime value of up to $10,000; funds are paid per credit, and the rate varies by institution type. It is not a one-time check and may not cover the full cost of a degree.
Traditional graduates of Nevada public, private, or charter high schools do not submit a standard student application: districts report eligible graduates, and the Treasurer sends award information in the summer. GPA, required coursework, and graduation criteria must appear correctly in your record. Homeschool or other nontraditional applicants follow separate review procedures and may need an application and evidence.
After receiving notice, activate the scholarship as instructed and ask your college about minimum credits, renewal GPA, and remaining value. UNLV, for example, lists $80 per credit up to 15 each semester and a $10,000 lifetime cap, but rates depend on the institution; do not treat one campus’s figure as statewide. Ask how summer and fees are handled.
Check state requirements before assuming you do not qualify: ask your counselor whether required courses and grades are on your transcript. If notice does not arrive, contact your high school or district first; for using the award, the Treasurer and campus financial aid are the right channels. Do not confuse the standard state scholarship with the separate Kenny C. Guinn Memorial Scholarship for prospective teachers, which has a competitive application.
To begin, identify the program administrator and the financial-aid office that certifies your enrollment. Review the program profile and requirements; for an individual account, also use the responsible state agency. Before accepting funds, compare the award letter with an itemized campus budget.

Information checked on October 12, 2026 against official sources. Eligibility does not guarantee an award: funding, deadlines, and college requirements can vary. Confirm the cycle, outstanding tasks, and net cost directly with the agency and your institution’s financial-aid office.
Check your transcript and watch for school notification; the per-credit rate varies by institution, and the Memorial version is a separate program.
