Napa Valley College Promise is aid from Napa’s public college intended to lower tuition for local students starting higher education. The 2026–27 page gives specific rules and says the benefit applies in Fall and Spring terms, not as a general scholarship for every expense.
The application is aimed at California residents or students with AB 540 status taking at least 12 units, filing FAFSA or CADAA, holding no prior college degree, and maintaining the required academic minimum. You must apply or accept a place and reapply for year two; aid does not renew simply because you received it in the first cycle.
The program covers enrollment fees and offers a parking discount; it excludes various additional fees, books, supplies, meals, and housing. Review the official cost table and award notice to see how it coordinates with Pell or California College Promise Grant. The remaining cost depends on courses and other approved aid.
The April deadline for Fall 2026 has passed; the site accepts Spring 2027 applications through April 23 or until funds run out. That date is not the same as a FAFSA/CADAA priority date or admission deadline. If you already have a file, review outstanding tasks; if starting in Spring, ask how long verification takes before enrolling based on aid that is not yet confirmed.
Do not compare programs by the phrase “free tuition” alone. Ask the college for a written budget separating tuition, mandatory fees, books, transportation, housing, and meals, and ask which other grants are deducted before this award is calculated. A last-dollar scholarship may cover only eligible charges left after Pell and institutional aid.
Keep confirmation for every application and check your student portal: FAFSA/CADAA, residency verification, a transcript, education plan, or data-release consent may still be missing. If the current cycle deadline has passed, ask whether an appeal or late list exists, but prepare for the next cycle without assuming late documents will be accepted. Use the linked profiles to identify the administrator and official channel.
Aid can affect other awards and renewals. Before dropping credits, changing campuses, taking a break, or accepting a loan, ask in writing how your award would be recalculated and what academic progress is required. A published maximum is not an individual offer: the final amount depends on funding, eligible charges, other aid, and your file.

Information checked on October 12, 2026 against official sources. Past deadlines are identified as such; eligibility does not guarantee an award. Before enrolling, confirm the current cycle, available funding, and covered charges with the program and your college financial-aid office.
For Spring 2027, check the window through April 23; file FAFSA/CADAA and request confirmation of uncovered fees.
