The Montana University System Honor Scholarship is a competitive award that waives tuition at an eligible state-system campus. For the graduating class applying in 2027, the official page lists a portal opening date of December 1, 2026 and a March 15, 2027 deadline.
Applicants need Montana residency, graduation that year from an accredited state high school, and at least three full-time years there including senior year. They need a minimum 3.4 cumulative GPA at the end of the seventh semester, progress toward the Rigorous Core or an IB diploma, and an ACT/SAT by February 2027. They must also be accepted at an eligible campus.
The program intends to offer up to 200 scholarships, subject to funding and selection; meeting minimums does not guarantee an award. The waiver covers tuition, not mandatory or class fees. The page estimates an average value of $5,000 per year at a four-year campus, but actual tuition varies. Renewal is available for up to eight semesters with a 3.4 GPA, required credits, and continuous full-time enrollment.
Use Award Montana to submit the complete application, campus acceptance, seventh-semester transcript, and counselor-signed certification of coursework/IB and attendance. The window is not open yet as of October 12, 2026. Schedule the ACT/SAT before February and budget for fees the waiver does not cover; after selection, accept or decline within the portal deadline.
Before accepting an aid package, compare your individual notice with the bill and ask what happens if you change enrollment, major, or campus. Read the program profile and consult the administering agency; your institution’s financial-aid office confirms your individual determination.

Information checked on October 12, 2026 against official sources. Deadlines for the 2026–27 cycle have passed for several programs; they are identified as past dates where relevant. Eligibility does not guarantee funding: confirm the academic year, your file, and net cost with the program and your campus financial-aid office.
This is a limited statewide competition, not an automatic award for a 3.4 GPA; prepare the application and certification before March 15.
