Missouri’s incentive is not an AP scholarship open to every graduate. It targets students eligible for Access Missouri or A+ in the same academic year whose calculated award is zero, and who also passed a state-accepted Advanced Placement math or science exam.

The published award is a one-time $500 grant, subject to appropriations. For 2026–27, the state says the paper application is due June 1, 2027. The college certifies A+ or Access eligibility, and the student attaches the College Board score report.

The often-missed step is proving eligibility for the underlying program: the department says it may not separately notify each student about A+ or Access Missouri status. Ask the campus what documentation it needs and verify that the exam and subject are currently accepted. Passing an AP exam alone does not automatically produce the $500 grant.

The grant goes to the college for education-related expenses; any remaining balance may be handled under school rules. Calculate net cost alongside other grants and do not count the same credit twice. If you lack the AP report, request it from your high school or College Board well before the deadline.

Before accepting, request an individual estimate showing aid applied first, residual tuition, mandatory fees, and indirect costs. Confirm residency, credits, renewal, deadlines, and documents with the official program office; keep a copy and submission confirmation. If your situation is unclear, get a written answer from the campus before committing to tuition or housing.

Read the program profile and official FAFSA guide; ask the college for an individual balance review.

Checked October 13, 2026 against official sources. Eligibility, award amounts, funding, and dates can change by year and budget. A scholarship may cover only tuition or specified fees, not housing, meals, books, or transportation. File the FAFSA when applicable, confirm your balance with the financial-aid office, and do not pay third parties to apply.

Bottom line

Compare net cost and excluded charges before committing; the financial-aid office confirms eligibility and the final balance.
