Missouri A+ Scholarship 2026–27: high-school requirements and what it covers

A+ helps graduates of designated schools cover remaining tuition and general fees at participating institutions. It requires high-school criteria, tutoring/service, FAFSA, and satisfactory progress.

Missouri’s A+ Scholarship is not an automatic award for every state graduate: it is for graduates of an A+ designated high school who signed an agreement and completed the criteria while in high school. Under the 2026–27 guidance, students need a 2.5 unweighted GPA, at least 95% attendance, and 50 hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring, as well as eligible citizenship or permanent-resident status.

After graduation, students may use the benefit at public community colleges, public vocational/technical schools, and certain approved private two-year institutions. The scholarship reimburses the remaining tuition and general fees after available non-loan federal aid, such as Pell, is applied. The 2026–27 tuition cap is $240 per credit or $8 per clock hour; if Pell already covers those charges, the A+ payment may be zero.

To remain eligible, file FAFSA each year and generally complete 12 semester credits each term—or 6 in summer—while making satisfactory progress. Renewal GPA and completion rules depend on the first payment period; the first year can have a different interim threshold. Check your high-school record and A+ certification before enrolling: not every campus or program participates.

Aid goes to approved charges; do not budget for books, transit, housing, meals, individual fees, or every specialized program. Ask the campus which charges count as “general fees,” what other assistance is deducted, and when reimbursement is reconciled. A+ is a transition scholarship for selected two-year schools, distinct from Access Missouri, which is need-based and serves a different institution set.

To begin, identify the program administrator and the financial-aid office that certifies your enrollment. Review the program profile and requirements; for an individual account, also use the responsible state agency. Before accepting funds, compare the award letter with an itemized campus budget.

Information checked on October 12, 2026 against official sources. Eligibility does not guarantee an award: funding, deadlines, and college requirements can vary. Confirm the cycle, outstanding tasks, and net cost directly with the agency and your institution’s financial-aid office.

Bottom line

Verify your high school’s A+ designation, tutoring hours, and college; the award only covers eligible remaining charges after other aid.
