Missouri A+ is a merit program that may reimburse remaining tuition and general fees at participating public community colleges and technical schools after non-loan federal aid such as Pell is applied. For 2026–27, the published cap is $240 per credit hour or $8 per clock hour; it does not automatically pay program-specific fees, and state reimbursement may be reduced if appropriations are insufficient.

The pathway begins in high school: students must sign an agreement before graduation, attend a designated school for the required period, earn a 2.5 unweighted GPA, maintain 95% attendance, and complete 50 hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring. Good citizenship and the state’s mathematics criterion also apply. Students should ask their school’s A+ coordinator to verify the transcript designation; there is no state paper application that replaces that confirmation.

In college, students must attend full time, pursue an eligible credential, file FAFSA each year, and maintain satisfactory progress. Eligibility generally expires 48 months after high-school graduation, upon earning an associate degree, or after exceeding 105% of program hours, whichever comes first. Aid does not transfer automatically: notify the state department if you change schools and confirm the post-Pell amount with the college so you do not count the same funds twice.

Before accepting aid, verify in writing who may apply, what costs it covers, whether it renews, and how it interacts with FAFSA and other scholarships. Confirm dates in the official portal and ask the college for your remaining net cost.

Read the program profile and FAFSA guide; ask for an individual review before committing.
