Maryland’s 2+2 Transfer Scholarship is designed to help a student finish an associate degree at a Maryland community college and transfer credits to a four-year institution in the state. For 2026–27, applicants need Maryland residency, at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and financial need, which the program page defines using a Student Aid Index no higher than 10,000. Students must pursue their first bachelor’s degree and enroll full time at an eligible public or private nonprofit four-year college.

Degree timing is strict. Students who completed their associate degree in 2025–26 must transfer for fall 2026; those finishing in fall 2026 should plan to transfer for spring 2027. Applicants who earned a bachelor’s or associate degree before July 2025 are ineligible. Besides the One-App in MDCAPS and FAFSA, MHEC requires a community-college transcript showing current GPA, generally by November 15. The receiving institution verifies parts of the application.

As of October 13, 2026, only two days remain before the October 15 deadline for the application and 2026–27 FAFSA. Complete documentation is essential, and awards are reviewed on a rolling basis; a late file should not be treated as a dependable option. Prepare your transcript, transfer details, and need documents now, and ask the community college or MHEC to confirm receipt. Compare approved aid with the destination college’s cost: “2+2” does not guarantee housing, transportation, or every fee will be covered.

Before accepting, compare the final balance with tuition, fees, and other aid; confirm the rules with the official source and ask the college financial-aid office for guidance.

Read the official program profile and FAFSA guide; request an individual review before enrolling.
