On South Florida Avenue, two chiropractic offices can be reached on the same corridor but operate on different terms. The Joint Chiropractic at 4747 Florida Avenue South takes walk-ins, including weekends, and advertises a $29 new-patient consultation, examination and adjustment when appropriate. Farther south, ChiroMed Wellness Centers at 6595 Florida Avenue South asks $47 for a consultation, examination, X-rays if needed and a report of findings. Its chiropractic work may be billed to insurance, while several other programs are cash pay. Across town at 1424 Commercial Park Drive, Mahoney Chiropractic sells a 60-minute, one-on-one initial assessment for $97. These are three different purchases; comparing the headline prices alone would obscure what happens after the first visit.
What the first appointment buys
Brendan Mahoney describes movement, neurological and orthopedic screening in his hour-long “Pain to Performance Reset.” The advertised $97 is an introductory price against a stated $247 regular value. His public fee schedule is unusually detailed: a chiropractic adjustment is $45; 15 minutes of manual therapy or rehabilitative exercise is $55; acupuncture is $90. A monthly membership is listed at $199–$250. None of those later services is automatically included in the initial assessment. The value for someone who wants a longer conversation is the specified time and examination, not an assumed package of ongoing treatment.
The Joint's $29 entry offer includes an adjustment only if the examination finds it appropriate. A single later adjustment costs $55. Its standard adult wellness plan is $89 a month for up to four visits, but the plan requires three billing cycles before cancellation becomes flexible. A patient who needs occasional visits may prefer the single-visit price over a plan whose minimum commitment is $267. Six-, ten- and twenty-visit packages are posted at $209, $299 and $499; packages expire after 12 months. The clinic does not accept health insurance, although it says eligible care can be paid through HSA or FSA funds.
Insurance is not the same for every service
ChiroMed advertises $47 for the initial assessment and says Dr. Justin Bergin conducts the examination and reviews imaging. The practice states that it verifies benefits before billing chiropractic care to insurance. Disc and nerve rehabilitation coverage varies by plan; its joint, metabolic and other programs are self-pay, with costs to be written down before treatment. This distinction matters because the same website places adjustments, traction, shockwave and other programs under one roof. A person seeking a chiropractic examination should not assume the insurance decision extends to each extra service. Nor should the clinic's marketing of those programs be read as proof that each is indicated for a particular condition.
Access also separates the offices. The Joint posts 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, with a 2 to 2:45 p.m. closure, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both weekend days; it suggests allowing 45–60 minutes for a first visit and arriving well before closing. ChiroMed posts full sessions Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, appointment-only Tuesday and Friday, and no weekend hours. Mahoney's site names the clinician and location but does not publish an equivalent weekly schedule. Recent public comments about these offices emphasize explanation, staff courtesy and the experience of being heard; they do not establish that a treatment will work for the next reader.
The practical choice is between time with one named clinician and an itemized later fee list, convenient walk-in adjustments with a clear self-pay contract, or a broader clinic where the type of service determines insurance coverage. Someone with a new injury or symptoms that may need medical assessment should not use a directory to choose a manipulation by price. The clinical question comes before the payment plan.
Match the visit to the actual need, then compare the later charge or contract: $97 for Mahoney's hour, $29 to enter The Joint, or $47 to begin at ChiroMed do not buy identical care.
