Kentucky Tuition Grant 2026–27: aid for full-time study at a private college

KTG offers up to $3,300 to Kentucky residents with financial need studying full time at an eligible private college in the state. Apply through FAFSA; funding is first-come.

The Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) is a need-based award for Kentucky residents enrolled full time at an eligible private college in the state. For 2026–27, KHEAA sets a maximum of $3,300. Your grant may be lower or unavailable if other aid reduces calculated need or funding is exhausted.

You must be a Kentucky resident, demonstrate need as determined by the college, pursue an associate or bachelor’s degree full time, and have no past-due obligations to KHEAA or federal aid programs. KTG is limited to the equivalent of four terms in two-year programs and eight in four-year programs. Verify that the specific campus—not just the university brand—participates.

The state application is the FAFSA for the year you need aid. KHEAA encourages early filing; awards are ordered by FAFSA completion date, so waiting can leave you out if funds are committed. Ask the college for its internal deadline to complete verification and confirm your final amount. Check MyKHEAA for document requests or corrections.

KTG is not interchangeable with the CAP Grant: CAP can serve part-time students at public and private schools, while KTG is tied to full-time study at an eligible private institution. Request an itemized comparison of tuition, mandatory fees, housing, books, and federal aid; the grant should not be described as a full-cost scholarship.

To begin, identify the program administrator and the financial-aid office that certifies your enrollment. Review the program profile and requirements; for an individual account, also use the responsible state agency. Before accepting funds, compare the award letter with an itemized campus budget.

Information checked on October 12, 2026 against official sources. Eligibility does not guarantee an award: funding, deadlines, and college requirements can vary. Confirm the cycle, outstanding tasks, and net cost directly with the agency and your institution’s financial-aid office.

Bottom line

KTG applies only to full-time study at an eligible private college; verify the campus and FAFSA before relying on the $3,300 maximum.
