Iowa’s Workforce Grant supports residents enrolled in undergraduate programs tied to high-demand occupations. For 2026–27, eligible schools are limited to Iowa State, the University of Iowa, and the University of Northern Iowa; it is not a general community-college benefit. Students need at least 60 completed credits, an approved program, and enrollment in at least three credits per semester.

FAFSA was due by July 1 and the Student Aid Index must not exceed 7,000. The statutory cap is $2,000 per semester, but the funded full-time maximum for 2026–27 is $1,125 per semester, with possible part-time proration and a four-award full-time-equivalent limit. Priority considers renewals, lower SAI, and students closest to completion.

The 2026–27 deadline has passed. If you filed FAFSA, check the state portal and ask the college to confirm that your program and credits qualify. Students completing a degree or teacher preparation in the same year may qualify for a separate incentive of up to $2,000 after starting eligible Iowa employment and working twelve consecutive months; it requires an application and is taxable income.

Request an individual review and net-cost statement before enrolling. Confirm residency, program, credits, funding, deadline, renewal, and excluded charges in writing; keep receipts and monitor the campus portal. The financial-aid office makes the final determination and can explain how this aid combines with FAFSA and other grants.

Read the program profile and FAFSA guide; ask for a personal review of your balance.
