The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship seeks to bring future teachers into Indiana schools. Selected students may receive up to $10,000 per academic year for as many as four years. It is open to high-school seniors and some first- or second-year college students; it is not a universal education-major benefit because it requires a teacher-licensure pathway at an eligible institution and specific academic qualifications.
For the 2027–28 application, Indiana accepts applications from October 1, 2026 through February 27, 2027. Applicants must be residents, citizens or eligible noncitizens, meet one of three academic paths—top 20% of class, top-20th-percentile ACT/SAT, or at least a 3.0 GPA—and enroll full-time. Renewal requires annual FAFSA, a 3.0 GPA, and 30 credits per year, along with program and licensure requirements.
The service commitment is central: after graduation, recipients must teach full-time for five years at an eligible Indiana school; failure to do so can convert the funds into a prorated loan. Before accepting, consider whether you can complete licensure and remain in-state for that period. Apply through ScholarTrack and review eligible institutions, summer rules, deferments, and appeal procedures before planning your degree.
Before accepting aid, compare net cost and uncovered charges. Confirm residency, program, credits, deadlines, renewal, and service obligations in writing with the responsible financial-aid office.
Read the official program profile and FAFSA guide; request an individual review before enrolling.
