Hyattsville’s Educational Path Scholarship is municipal aid for city residents finishing high school or already graduated who plan to continue their education. The city says the 2027–28 cycle will open in spring 2027. It is not open to every Prince George’s County resident: applicants must live within incorporated Hyattsville, so check the address before assembling an application.
Published awards range from $1,000 to $3,500 and may be used for tuition, books, or other school materials. High-school seniors, graduates, and GED recipients may apply if accepted to or enrolled in a college, university, or trade school. The city requires at least a 2.0 weighted GPA and FAFSA or financial-aid information; applicants should confirm the final rules when the new form appears.
The city application is more than a short form: it calls for two personal-statement essays, two references, proof of address and identity, a transcript or diploma, an acceptance letter, and records of other scholarships or grants received. It also requests a letter or résumé describing school and community activities. Proof of address may include utility bills, a lease, or mortgage deed; prepare clear, consistent files before the portal opens.
Applications are submitted through RecDesk; applicants without an account will need to create one when the form becomes available. The city page distinguishes this postsecondary award from the children’s camp scholarships listed in the same section. Allow time to request references and verify residency with the city tool. If the award combines with a college aid package, ask the financial-aid office how to report it and which expenses it can cover.
Confirm the academic year, local deadline and time, who must submit each document, and whether supplemental questions remain. Keep confirmations and recheck the portal after submitting. Ask the school’s financial-aid office how FAFSA, outside awards, and payments coordinate.
Read the aid-program profile and the FAFSA guide; confirm with the institution how funding is coordinated.
