Golden LEAF’s Community College Scholarship serves North Carolina residents from eligible rural counties attending a community college. It has two pathways: curriculum programs leading to a degree or credential, and continuing education for workforce training. It is distinct from the Golden LEAF Colleges and Universities Scholarship for four-year institutions.
CFNC lists up to $2,250 per academic year for curriculum study and up to $1,850 for continuing education, subject to need and funding. The first pathway requires residence in an eligible county, full-time enrollment, and FAFSA; the second targets courses of at least 96 hours and a campus need review. County lists may change, so verify the current cycle before relying on the grant.
Applications and deadlines are local and handled by the community college. Ask which pathway fits your program and submit FAFSA, residency, and other documents before the campus deadline. The cap is not guaranteed aid and may not cover living costs, transportation, or supplies. Confirm participation if you live in a rural county but plan to study elsewhere.
Request an individual review and net-cost statement before enrolling. Confirm residency, program, credits, funding, deadline, renewal, and excluded charges in writing; keep receipts and monitor the campus portal. The financial-aid office makes the final determination and can explain how this aid combines with FAFSA and other grants.
Read the program profile and FAFSA guide; ask for a personal review of your balance.
