FSAG is a Florida state need-based grant for resident students pursuing a degree and demonstrating substantial financial need. It is not one identical award for everyone: separate tracks serve public universities and colleges, eligible private nonprofit institutions, and certain other postsecondary schools. Participating institutions administer the awards, so availability and final amounts depend on the campus, cost, and its allocation.
The practical step is to submit FAFSA and provide any extra documents the institution requests; the state fact sheet says each campus sets its process, deadline, eligibility decision, and award amount. The state also publishes annual memoranda and matrices for financial-aid offices, but there is no single statewide date that replaces local campus deadlines. Eligibility can depend on residency, enrollment, academic progress, and other aid already received.
If you study in Florida and have financial need, contact the aid office before assuming the grant will cover a particular balance. Ask whether the school participates in the track that matches your program, what priority applies to first-time or renewing students, and when funds may run out. The Talented Twenty priority may affect funding for qualifying high-school students, but it does not replace the need requirement or guarantee payment.
Before accepting aid, confirm in writing who decides eligibility, which costs are covered, how renewal works, and which deadline applies to your cohort. Compare the award with the net cost at your school.
Read the aid-program profile and the FAFSA guide; your institution’s aid office can verify your individual case.
