Florida Open Door Grant: career credentials and 2026–27 funding status

Open Door funds short career training for high-demand credentials at participating Florida College System institutions and public technical centers. Students apply through their institution; there is no automatic statewide check or uniform amount. Each school chooses programs and selects participants based on workforce needs and budget. The grant targets direct credential costs rather than general living expenses.

The state guide includes tuition, fees, exams, assessments, and required materials after other federal and state aid. Some participants may receive a capped stipend if funding is available. Do not apply one campus’s amount to another: ask about the exact credential, length, practical training, tools, and excluded costs. The college should explain how Open Door combines with Pell or other aid.

OSFA published a 2026–27 allocation, but availability is local. Palm Beach State College says its funding for that year is closed; this does not prove every campus is closed. Contact the intended school about remaining funds, a waitlist, and the next cycle before enrolling. If already studying, ask whether a program change affects the award.

Request an individual review and net-cost statement before enrolling. Confirm residency, program, credits, funding, deadline, renewal, and excluded charges in writing; keep receipts and monitor the campus portal. The financial-aid office makes the final determination and can explain how this aid combines with FAFSA and other grants.

Read the program profile and FAFSA guide; ask for a personal review of your balance.

Checked October 13, 2026 against official sources. Amounts, availability, eligibility, and dates change by year and institution. Some 2026–27 dates have passed or funds are exhausted; each guide states the verified status. Confirm eligibility and net cost in writing with financial aid. Tuition assistance does not necessarily cover housing, meals, transportation, books, or equipment.

Bottom line

Compare net cost and excluded charges before committing; financial aid confirms eligibility and your balance.
