Which Flint bars combine sports, food and screens?

Sherman’s Lounge pairs TVs, pool and live music; Social House brings contemporary cooking and a sports-bar experience to Fenton Road.

Maskay editorial team Updated

Flint is organised around neighbourhoods connected by major roads, and Fenton Road brings together businesses and services south of downtown. Two venues offer different ways to follow a game: Sherman’s Lounge is a long-running bar with bands, pool and TVs; Social House pairs more elaborate cooking with a sports-bar identity and game-day events. MTA Route 11 runs along Fenton Road, but the last bus leaves downtown at 10:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, which matters for the ride home.

Open since 1969 according to its website, Sherman’s advertises multiple flat-screen TVs, three pool tables, video games and live music on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The kitchen serves pizza, stromboli, subs, sandwiches and fried snacks. Recent reviews recommend pizza, wings and stromboli and describe a room animated by local bands. There is no public channel or league schedule, so ask if the game will be available, which screen will carry it and whether sound will be on. On concert nights, music may take precedence over the score.

Also on Fenton Road, Social House describes itself as a sports bar with a scratch kitchen, cocktails, local beer and semi-private event space. A recent Google review counted more than twenty televisions; OpenTable lists Thursday football and a weekend tailgate buffet. Its menu includes burgers, prime-rib sliders, Philly egg rolls, tacos, fish, soups, salads and brunch. Comments praise presentation, cocktails and service; the offer is closer to a full restaurant dinner than a starter-only menu. The public listing notes accessible parking and reviewers mention a free lot, subject to availability.

The choice depends on what you want with the game: Sherman’s is informal and music-led; Social House has more menu variety and reservations, but closes Monday and the kitchen may close before the room. Neither guarantees every matchup, so check the calendar and ask about broadcast and sound. For bus riders, the Fenton Road service does not ensure a return after a late game.
