SEED, or Student Excellence Equals Degree, is a Delaware state tuition scholarship. It is primarily used at Delaware Technical Community College and in University of Delaware Associate in Arts or Flex Pathway programs, not any bachelor’s program at the Newark campus. Delaware Tech also offers a route for certain nondegree workforce certificates. Campus, program, and residency determine which pathway applies.
For an associate program at Delaware Tech, the college requires admission, FAFSA and a SEED form, a final transcript showing a 2.5 cumulative GPA or qualifying GED credential, residency verification, and at least 12 credits in the first semester. Applicants age 25 or older must document five continuous years of state residency. The UD pathway may cover tuition for up to ten semesters and leave eligible funding for certain bachelor’s study; renewal requires a 2.5 GPA.
The scholarship applies to tuition; it does not make fees, books, transportation, or living costs free. Complete FAFSA and the college’s forms; the institution verifies eligibility and applies the aid to the student account. For the 2026–27 application cycle, check the state portal and campus for exact dates because each institution publishes its own process. Ask what happens if you take fewer credits, change programs, or start after the term immediately following high school.
Before accepting aid, compare net cost and uncovered charges. Confirm residency, program, credits, deadlines, renewal, and service obligations in writing with the responsible financial-aid office.
Read the official program profile and FAFSA guide; request an individual review before enrolling.
