Dallas County Promise 2027: eligibility, Path deadline, and covered costs

Last-dollar aid depends on the partner campus; for Dallas College the Promise Path is due February 5, 2027.

Dallas County Promise advises students from participating high schools in 13 districts and may fund remaining tuition at partner colleges. For students starting at Dallas College in fall 2027, the program publishes specific school, application, financial-aid, and enrollment requirements. The Dallas County Promise at Dallas College profile explains that campus’s coverage. Do not assume Dallas College dates or income rules apply at UNT, UTA, or another partner university.

The first step is submitting Promise Path by February 5, 2027, according to the official page updated for the 2027 cohort. The pathway is for seniors at participating Dallas County high schools. Each partner then sets its own admission and financial-aid dates. At Dallas College, July 1, 2027, is the priority date for admission and FAFSA/TASFA. Other university partners may have deadlines in January, March, or another month.

A change applies for fall 2027: Dallas College says students must demonstrate financial need through Pell Grant eligibility on the FAFSA or TEOG/TPEG on the TASFA. Submit only the form that applies, include Dallas College’s FAFSA code 004453, and complete any verification tasks or requested documents. The program requires an eligible course of study, active enrollment, and orientation. Receiving a Promise Path confirmation is not final grant approval.

The last-dollar grant covers remaining tuition after federal and state grants, based on the student’s individual account; it is not unrestricted cash or necessarily the full published tuition price. Dallas College says eligible courses receive textbooks separately through IncludEd. The grant does not cover housing, meals, transportation, personal expenses, or unapproved programs. Mandatory fees and eligibility may differ at other campuses, so get written confirmation from the partner’s financial-aid office.

To prepare, complete Promise Path, begin admission, submit FAFSA or TASFA, respond to verification requests, and keep the confirmation email. Dallas College urges students to meet its priority dates; although the page gives different final dates for later enrollment steps, do not wait until the deadline and verify the portal cutoff. Check Pell or TEOG/TPEG eligibility, review courses in your academic plan, and request an account estimate before registering.
