CUNY ASAP is an academic-success and financial-support program at the City University of New York. It helps associate- and bachelor’s-degree students stay enrolled and graduate on time. Beginning in fall 2026, it includes the bachelor’s pathway formerly known as ACE, while the two- and four-year routes retain different timelines. Options are available at 16 CUNY colleges, but not every major is offered at every campus.

Support can include a dedicated academic advisor, tutoring, career guidance, priority registration, activities, an unlimited-ride OMNY card, and textbook assistance or stipends depending on the pathway. Students who receive financial aid may qualify for a tuition-and-fee gap award; someone who does not qualify for other grants may still be eligible for some pathways, but may not receive the gap payment.

Common criteria include current or newly accepted status at a participating campus, New York residency under CUNY’s tuition rules, full-time enrollment in an approved major, and commitment to the pathway’s graduation timeline. Citizenship and immigration status can change which state or federal forms apply; CUNY directs eligible students under the New York State Dream Act to TAP and specialized resources. Confirm your campus and pathway before planning courses.

Applying involves CUNY admission, an information session, and annual FAFSA and TAP filings for U.S. citizens and permanent residents, as well as accepting available federal and state grants. CUNY sets prior-credit limits for some entry routes and requires advising, tutoring, or academic progress under pathway rules. Ask a recruiter about OMNY timing, the textbook amount, and which charges the gap award can cover.

Before applying, confirm the current cycle, priority date, participating institution, enrollment load, and any missing records. Keep a copy of the FAFSA or state form, transcripts, and submission confirmation. Ask about renewal, covered expenses, and coordination with other aid. Do not budget money until you receive an official award.

Compare net cost and distinguish scholarships, grants, waivers, and loans; they are not all repaid or applied to the same charges. Verify current-cycle dates and requirements directly with the administrator.

Read the program profile and federal FAFSA guide; confirm with the administrator how the aid coordinates.
