The Coolidge Scholarship is a national award from the Coolidge Foundation for high-school juniors planning to enter college the following year. The 2026–27 application is open, and all materials, including references, must be submitted by December 1, 2026, at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. The Foundation selects candidates based on academic merit and commitment to study; the competition is not limited to Vermont residents, where the organization is based.
The principal awards can cover tuition, room, board, and books for four years at an accredited U.S. institution, subject to program rules and continued academic standing. The official page describes a multi-stage review: initial application, a second assessment for advancing candidates, and finalist interviews. Applicants should review the readings and prompts assigned by the Foundation; thoughtful essays take time and should not be improvised the night before.
The process may also include the Coolidge Senators Program, but advancing in that process does not mean receiving the main scholarship.
