Compton College says its 2027–28 scholarship application opened October 1, 2026. One form allows the system to consider a student for multiple awards for which they may qualify; applicants do not initially need a separate form for every fund. Current listings include awards tied to first-generation status, foster youth, arts, campus participation, and financial need.
General requirements and individual awards differ. For example, campus listings include scholarships requiring at least a 2.0 GPA and six completed units by fall 2026, plus enrollment in at least six units in both terms of 2027–28. The First-Generation award serves students whose parents or guardians did not attend college; other funds have program or participation conditions.
The general application requires a personal statement of at least 300 words and contact information for a Compton faculty or classified staff member who can speak to the student’s achievement and character. Additional materials depend on the award. The college advises applicants to verify enrollment and units because some scholarships condition payment on the course load maintained in fall and spring.
Some awards have stated amounts while others vary by need and units. The Osher Scholarship, for example, prioritizes financial need and may reach $800 per term for students taking at least 12 units; published caps are lower for 9–11.99 and 6–8.99 units. Do not apply those figures to the entire program: they belong to that fund and may depend on continued eligibility and funding.
Confirm the academic year, local deadline and time, who must submit each document, and whether supplemental questions remain. Keep confirmations and recheck the portal after submitting. Ask the school’s financial-aid office how FAFSA, outside awards, and payments coordinate.
Read the aid-program profile and the FAFSA guide; confirm with the institution how funding is coordinated.
