Which Colombian consulate serves Washington, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and West Virginia?

The Washington office serves the District of Columbia and four nearby states. We review who should use it, when appointments are released, which procedures allow walk-ins and how consular Saturdays work.

Colombians living in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware or West Virginia use the Consulate of Colombia in Washington, D.C. as their reference office. Its official district covers the capital and four states; other nearby states are not automatically included. The office is at 1724 Massachusetts Avenue NW, second floor, Washington, DC 20036, so plan building access as well as the appointment.

The office lists regular public hours Monday to Friday, 8 a.m.–2 p.m., and consular Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. These are not open sessions every weekend: the annual calendar lists specific dates and warns they can change. The consulate publishes a local phone and email as well as separate instructions for public service and appointments.

Regular appointments are released weekly on Fridays at 10 a.m. Washington time for the following week. If Friday is a holiday, the portal says the release moves to the preceding business day in the morning. For consular Saturdays, appointments open on the preceding Thursday at 10 a.m. The system requires a user account, identification details and a camera-equipped device for facial recognition. Slots are subject to availability; a published event date does not mean appointments remain open.

The portal classifies procedures. Ordinary and executive passports, national ID and identity cards, and civil registrations require appointments. Public deeds and renunciation or recovery of nationality are requested by email, and the listed service time is regular weekdays. The page lists collection of previously processed documents, signature recognition for private documents, specific powers, minors’ exit permissions, certificates and life certificates, copy authentication and certain copies of records registered there as walk-in services. Confirm that an exception applies to the exact procedure you need.

Voter-ID registration is listed as a walk-in procedure during public hours, including consular Saturdays and special sessions; election deadlines depend on the current calendar and should not be carried over from a past election. Some procedures may be paid by card at the office, depending on the service. Use the procedure-specific requirements page, since the general list does not specify every document, appearance rule or fee.

The 2026 calendar includes consular Saturdays and extended sessions from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., each with its own appointment release. A dated notice may offer certain walk-in procedures, limit the number of services per visitor or require a passport appointment. Those instructions apply to that event; they do not make the exception a permanent office rule.

The exact Google Maps listing contains varied individual accounts about service, organization and waiting. The practical value of those reviews does not replace the Foreign Ministry’s instructions. To avoid a wasted visit, check whether the procedure needs an appointment, save the confirmation, review consular holidays and revisit the Saturday notice if the trip depends on a special session.

We reviewed the district, weekly booking system and access options to distinguish which procedures require a slot and which use another route. The address, contacts and review summary from the exact listing appear in the Consulate of Colombia in Washington, D.C. profile.

Bottom line

Washington offers more than one route to service, but first identify the procedure. The portal uses weekly appointments for passports, identity documents and civil registrations; other acts are requested by email or listed as walk-ins. Consular Saturdays and extended sessions have separate dates and appointment releases. Checking the current calendar is essential for residents across the five jurisdictions who must travel to the capital.
