Dorchester Youth Soccer separates House from Travel. House is open to all abilities and is built around young age groups, with Sunday games; the current FAQ lists $80 and includes a uniform shirt. Travel teams serve grades 3–8, usually practice twice weekly and play ten games over a ten-week season, generally on Saturdays. The posted registration is $100, with a separate uniform kit costing about $100. Away games may require a drive of up to 45 minutes, so the nominal fee is only part of the family’s commitment.
East Boston FC, supported by Boston SCORES, uses a different neighborhood model. Its Grassroots program covers PreK through eighth grade and lists one weekday practice plus Saturday scrimmages; Travel is for grades 3–6 and meets twice weekly before Saturday games. The site says Fall 2026 enrollment is closed and gives Spring 2027 dates of March 29–June 12. Its program block lists $80/$140 for Grassroots and $160/$300 for Travel, but the FAQ on the same page shows higher figures. That inconsistency should be resolved with the organization before a family relies on any budget estimate. Limited scholarships, a multi-child discount and an Every Kid Sports option are listed.
The professional New England Revolution compete in MLS, but their home field is Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, not Dorchester or downtown Boston. The distance changes what “local soccer” means: seeing the professional side requires a regional trip, while both youth profiles meet within Boston neighborhoods. Neither local organization is a Revolution academy, and participation in community soccer is not a shortcut to a professional contract. A family that wants advanced selection should ask separately about the club’s tryout pathway and competition level.
