Boston Bridge was designed to connect Tuition-Free Community College with Commonwealth Commitment so eligible students could move from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree without tuition or mandatory fees on an approved pathway. However, the city’s current page says Boston Bridge is “under review” and points students to MassTransfer for transfer options. Because of that notice, students should not budget a new award or assume the program is accepting a new cohort.
The official flyer describes the pathway’s published terms: begin at one of four partner community colleges with fewer than 15 prior credits, choose a mapped major, remain continuously enrolled full-time with a 3.0 cumulative GPA, finish the associate degree in 2.5 years, and complete the bachelor’s in the next two years. These terms help existing participants understand the pathway, but the city’s review notice does not confirm that new applications are currently accepted. Verify status before applying.
If you already receive Bridge, contact the program coordinator and financial-aid office for written confirmation of how your cohort, campus, and transfer major are treated. If you are seeking a route after an associate degree, the city points to MassTransfer; request an official review of course equivalencies, fees, and aid at the destination college. Community-college TFCC assistance is a separate program and does not by itself mean a bachelor’s degree will be covered.
Before accepting aid, compare net cost and uncovered charges. Confirm residency, program, credits, deadlines, renewal, and service obligations in writing with the responsible financial-aid office.
Read the official program profile and FAFSA guide; request an individual review before enrolling.
