The Mayor’s Youth Scholarship is administered through the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and helps young people connected to the city pursue college, technical education, or undergraduate study. The published local connection has several routes: graduating from Atlanta Public Schools, living within city limits, or receiving a recommendation from a current city employee. There is no minimum GPA, but the award is not automatic; selection remains competitive and depends on a complete application.

For the 2026–27 cycle, the foundation said the application opened December 8, 2025, and closed March 2, 2026. That deadline has passed, and the page reviewed does not yet post the 2027–28 application. Sign up for official alerts and prepare FAFSA, academic records, proof of admission, and residency information in advance; do not treat an old form as an active application.

The award amount varies. The foundation says full-time enrollment is required to receive the full scholarship amount and gives priority consideration to Pell Grant recipients. The scholarship sits within a broader college-access ecosystem, but students should not assume it pays housing, transportation, or the entire bill; the official award letter and the college account explain how funds are used and disbursed.

A key distinction is that the municipal scholarship is separate from Achieve Atlanta, an associated initiative supporting public-school students as they access and complete postsecondary education. Before applying, confirm which program fits your school and stage, whether you are a new or renewal applicant, and whether payment goes to the college. Ask how it coordinates with Pell, HOPE, or other awards so you do not count the same balance twice.

Before applying, confirm the current cycle, priority date, participating institution, enrollment load, and any missing records. Keep a copy of the FAFSA or state form, transcripts, and submission confirmation. Ask about renewal, covered expenses, and coordination with other aid. Do not budget money until you receive an official award.

Compare net cost and distinguish scholarships, grants, waivers, and loans; they are not all repaid or applied to the same charges. Verify current-cycle dates and requirements directly with the administrator.

Read the program profile and federal FAFSA guide; confirm with the administrator how the aid coordinates.
