Arkansas Future Grant (ArFuture): aid for certificates and STEM career programs

ArFuture covers tuition and mandatory fees for eligible STEM or high-demand programs at public institutions. Part-time enrollment is allowed, FAFSA is required, and listed deadlines are July 1 and January 10.

ArFuture helps pay for eligible certificates and associate degrees in STEM or regional/state high-demand fields. The SAMS page describes coverage at public institutions, while ADHE rules also contemplate certain approved nonprofit private institutions. The official 2026–27 list identifies participating campuses and programs, so verify both before enrolling. Part-time or full-time study is allowed; not every major qualifies.

Eligibility generally requires an Arkansas high-school graduation or equivalency; an out-of-state graduate may qualify by documenting three continuous years of Arkansas residency before applying. FAFSA, enrollment in an approved program, and no prior associate degree are required. Check a discrepancy before committing: the SAMS overview describes public institutions, while ADHE rules also define certain nonprofit private institutions as potentially approvable. Confirm that your campus and program appear on the current list.

The Arkansas Future Grant, or ArFuture, helps pay for eligible certificates and associate degrees in STEM or regional/state high-demand fields. It permits part-time or full-time enrollment and works as last-dollar aid: recognized costs are reduced by other state scholarships, federal aid, and private scholarships. There is no fixed award amount; the official 2026–27 approved-program list identifies participating majors and institutions.

The grant has obligations worth understanding before signing: the rules call for monthly mentoring and at least ten community-service hours per funded semester. After completing the certificate or associate degree, recipients must live in Arkansas for three consecutive years and begin working within six months. If the agreement is not met, the grant can convert into repayable debt; ADHE rules provide limited exceptions or deferrals that students should resolve with the agency.

Start by reviewing SAMS and the current list; ask the administrator and campus to confirm eligibility. Review the program profile and requirements; for an individual account, also use the responsible state agency. Before accepting funds, obtain the full agreement and confirm in writing the monthly mentoring, ten community-service hours per semester, and post-graduation obligation to live and work in Arkansas. Request the final calculation showing other aid deducted and your net balance.

Information checked on October 12, 2026 against official sources. Eligibility does not guarantee an award: funding, deadlines, and college requirements can vary. Confirm the cycle, outstanding tasks, and net cost directly with the agency and your institution’s financial-aid office.

Bottom line

Verify that your certificate or associate program is listed as STEM/high demand and file FAFSA by the deadline; ArFuture subtracts other aid first.
