AISES brings together scholarships funded by different organizations to support Indigenous students in STEM; each award has its own sponsor, amount, and eligibility rules. The 2026–27 portal includes academic and vocational awards with different enrollment levels, GPA thresholds, and fields of study. One listed award offers $5,000 to first-time, full-time college students in any STEM field, while others focus on tribal gaming, computing, engineering, or other pathways. There is no single “AISES award amount.”
The official page says scholarships generally open on December 15 and close on April 30 of the application period. In OASIS, students complete a general profile and see opportunities for which they may qualify; each scholarship may require additional documents such as a transcript, enrollment verification, direct-deposit information, or a donor thank-you letter. Student AISES membership must be active before applying and is advertised as free for students.
An AISES application does not replace FAFSA or the college’s financial-aid office. Check whether an award covers tuition, other qualified education costs, or is paid to the student, and whether it requires full-time enrollment or a minimum GPA; those terms differ by listing. AISES also says students should be the primary contact for their accounts rather than having a parent or guardian complete the profile for them. If a specific award’s new-cycle rules have not been posted, do not assume its funding or eligibility will remain unchanged.
Before applying, confirm the correct cohort, time zone, documents your school must submit, and whether funds are applied to tuition or other costs. Your institution’s financial-aid office can explain how the award interacts with FAFSA and outside scholarships.
Read the aid-program profile and the FAFSA guide; your institution’s financial-aid office can verify your individual case.
