Access Missouri Grant 2027–28: FAFSA, SAI, and deadlines to meet

Access Missouri is need-based and determined from FAFSA. For 2027–28, the priority date is February 1, 2027; SAI must be $12,000 or less, and awards vary by institution.

Access Missouri is the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development’s primary need-based grant. It uses the Student Aid Index (SAI) from FAFSA; the published eligibility limit is $12,000. There is no separate state application. FAFSA can also determine Pell and other aid, but each program has its own rules.

For 2027–28, the priority date is February 1, 2027. The state says timely eligible applicants are guaranteed an award, subject to the program’s rules. A later award deadline depends on funding, the final deadline is April 1, and FAFSA corrections are accepted through July 31, 2027. These dates are different: a late correction does not rescue a student who never filed FAFSA by the final date.

The grant serves Missouri-resident undergraduates at participating schools who enroll full time—12 semester or 8 quarter hours; a 6-hour exception applies when a disability prevents 12—and have no prior bachelor’s degree or more than 150 credits. New applicants cannot pursue theology or divinity. Renewals must retain eligibility and, after the first year of payment, maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and satisfactory progress.

Statutory annual minimums and maximums differ by school: $500–$1,700 at public two-year colleges and $1,750–$3,500 at other approved schools. Your amount can be lower due to funding, enrollment, or your package, and summer awards are unavailable. Check the MDHEWD student portal and ask your college how Access Missouri coordinates with A+ Scholarship, which can reduce the grant.

To begin, identify the program administrator and the financial-aid office that certifies your enrollment. Review the program profile and requirements; for an individual account, also use the responsible state agency. Before accepting funds, compare the award letter with an itemized campus budget.

Information checked on October 12, 2026 against official sources. Eligibility does not guarantee an award: funding, deadlines, and college requirements can vary. Confirm the cycle, outstanding tasks, and net cost directly with the agency and your institution’s financial-aid office.

Bottom line

For the next cycle, file FAFSA by February 1, 2027 and check the portal; correction dates do not replace the initial application deadline.
