The current page includes high-school and homeschool graduates from spring 2024 through August 2028, and Texas GED recipients from July 2023 through August 2028. It sets no income ceiling or minimum GPA; address and graduation date are checked against official records.
The benefit removes up to three consecutive years of credit tuition and general fees; students pursuing an ACC bachelor’s degree may receive up to five years. A break has a cost: the catalog says semesters cannot be deferred, and skipping one may forfeit that term’s funding. It is not a cash award or a waiver of every campus expense.
To begin, apply for free admission to ACC, provide address and graduation information, and register for credit courses. If eligible, ACC says the waiver is applied automatically after registration, without a separate Free Tuition application. Still file the FAFSA and seek scholarships for books, transportation, and living costs; international students are not eligible for this local waiver.
The bill may still include an out-of-district charge—the catalog lists $201 per credit—plus labs, supplies, and books. The service area is not identical to the tax district, so a student may qualify for the waiver and still owe out-of-district fees. Before registering, check the address map, course plan, and student account; “tuition-free” does not mean a zero total cost.
Before registering, compare the semester budget rather than tuition alone: request lab and supply charges for your courses, check whether you owe the out-of-district fee, and ask what happens if you move or skip a term. Save the eligibility confirmation and review your account after registration; if an expected waiver is missing, contact Student Affairs before the payment deadline so classes are not dropped.
