About Zoomarine Algarve

In Guia near Albufeira, Zoomarine offers a day that changes pace several times: shows and zoological areas, amusement rides, and water attractions share one park. Opened in 1991, it presents itself as a family destination that also makes room for learning about marine life and efforts to conserve it.

The grounds bring together more than thirty attractions, arranged among presentations, animal areas, rides, and water activities. Visitors can move from observation to play without leaving the park. Its map is more useful than a straight list of rides, helping families decide which areas suit different ages and how to divide their time.

Dolphin programs have options separate from general admission. Encounter lasts about an hour, accepts participants age six and older, and takes place in shallow water without requiring swimming ability. Premium and Exclusive last about ninety minutes, are for ages eight and older, and involve deep water, so participants must be able to swim; Exclusive takes place in a private setting.

The educational work goes beyond presentations. Zoomarine runs activities for schools, camps, and groups, along with environmental education projects. Its Porto d’Abrigo center, created in 2002, takes part in the rescue and rehabilitation of marine animals in collaboration with Portugal’s nature conservation agency. The park also presents initiatives involving ecosystems and species.

A day at the park involves supporting services: restaurants, shops, lockers, lounge chairs, children’s carts, and photography. Some are rented or purchased separately and should not be mistaken for everything included with an ordinary ticket. Wild Explorer adds a virtual reality experience; like other park activities, it is best fitted into the day according to ages and interests.

The entrance is on Estrada Nacional 125 at kilometer 65 in Guia. Zoomarine lists visitor parking and describes approaches from the A22 and EN125. Ferreiras train station is several miles away; the park also mentions local buses with a nearby stop, along with taxis and private transfers. Those choices make it possible to plan the trip without relying entirely on a car.

The park calendar determines opening days and hours, while individual activities may have their own schedules. For a family chiefly interested in animals, environmental education offers a way to connect the visit; for those who want to alternate learning with water play, the range of areas is the draw. The practical choice is to allow time for each part rather than try to see everything at once.
