Kora Fuel Cards is a New Zealand company that markets fuel cards aimed at drivers and organisations in the country. Its proposition is based on a daily discount of at least 10 cents per litre on every fill-up, with no limit on usage, at Mobil and Waitomo stations throughout the country. The company states that its name comes from the term "kora", which means fuel in te reo Māori, and that it incorporates that language into its identity and communication.

How the card works and the sign-up process

Sign-up is done online and, according to the company, takes less than five minutes. After a few quick checks and approval, Kora cards arrive within three to five days. Users can manage their account from the Kora app. Billing adapts to the customer: the company allows payment weekly, fortnightly or monthly, similar to a utility bill, and notes that billing can be aligned with the cardholder's payday.

User profiles it targets

The offering is segmented into several profiles: personal use, for daily commuting and family trips; self-employed workers, with the argument of reducing paperwork; small businesses, to cut costs with daily savings; companies with staff, to extend savings to employees; non-profit entities, with discounted fuel for charities; and a programme for those who wish to direct their savings to support charitable causes.

Station network and lookup tools

The cards are accepted at Waitomo and Mobil stations, with more than 390 sites across New Zealand. The Kora Waitomo card works at any Waitomo station, while the Kora Mobilcard is used at sites that accept Mobilcard. The company warns that some NPD and Allied sites may accept the Kora Mobilcard, and that the Kora map shows both those additional sites and stations where the card is accepted without a discount, such as certain Caltex, Z, G.A.S. or BP locations. In addition, Kora has integrated with the Gaspy app: when the Kora feature is activated in its discount calculator, prices are automatically adjusted to reflect the discount.

Estimated savings and business model

The company provides a savings calculator. An example published on the site estimates up to $331 per year, or $28 per month, based on filling a 74-litre tank 48 times. Kora describes its operation as "low-cost", supported by cloud technology and automated processes that allow the team to work remotely across the country and scale the business without driving up operating costs. The company maintains that, as its membership grows, it can negotiate better discounts with its fuel partners.

Partners, financial registration and awards

Kora has the backing of the fuel brands Waitomo and Mobil. The company states that it is registered on the New Zealand Financial Service Providers register and says it takes the responsibilities of a credit account seriously, adjusting limits to the customer's needs. In its news section, the site reports that Kora Fuel Cards was a finalist in two categories at the 2026 2degrees Auckland Business Awards and that it has collaborated with New Zealand brands to make access to fuel savings easier.
