About Orewa Beach Vet Clinic
Orewa Beach Vet Clinic: veterinary care for small animals on the Hibiscus Coast
Orewa Beach Vet Clinic is a veterinary clinic established in January 2002 and dedicated to the care and treatment of small animals. The centre presents itself as a well-known service in the Hibiscus Coast area and notes that, despite growth in the number of patients, staff and technology, it maintains the same principle: patient care comes first. The clinic states that each animal is treated as if it were their own and that a comfortable, stress-free animal is not only easier to handle and treat, but is also in a better physiological state for healing and recovery.
Care and wellbeing services
The clinic offers a range of veterinary care services including consultations, dog and cat vaccination, microchipping, flea and tick control, dentistry, acupuncture, behavioural services, treatment of skin diseases, allergies and disorders, and senior pet check-ups. It also has a puppy school focused on the socialisation period, which the clinic places between 6 and 20 weeks of age, and runs client education workshops throughout the year.
Surgery and diagnostics
The centre has a surgical suite for soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, and offers the possibility of advanced orthopaedic procedures through a visiting surgeon, including TPLO and TTA for cruciate ligament injuries and patella luxation corrections. For diagnostics it has rapid in-house blood and urine tests, digital X-ray and ultrasound. Dental equipment includes X-ray, ultrasonic scaling and polishing.
Facilities and monitoring
The clinic has separate hospitalisation wards for dogs and cats, waiting areas designed so that nervous pets do not have to sit next to other animals, active air extraction in areas with odours, and a separate isolation room for patients with infectious diseases. For safety during anaesthesia it uses Doppler flow detector blood pressure measurement and multiparameter vital signs monitoring equipment. It also offers a range of high-quality foods, including several therapeutic diets.
Coverage and community
The clinic regularly treats pets from Orewa, Hatfields Beach, Millwater, Milldale, Whangaparaoa, Red Beach, Silverdale, Stillwater and adjacent rural areas. Its team consists of several veterinarians, a practice manager, nursing staff and casual nurses.
Emergencies
During opening hours, the veterinarians provide immediate attention for emergencies and no appointment is required, although the clinic recommends calling ahead if possible so that the team can prepare for urgent treatment. Outside standard hours, the service is referred to Animal Referral Centre (ARC) in Albany, open 24 hours, located at 224 Albany Highway, Schnapper Rock.
