Its team of veterinarians and technicians performs surgical procedures and dental treatments, including complex soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures. It also serves as a base for referral services in Catmed Feline Medicine, Animal Dermatology and Veterinary Dentistry, among others, for the Greater Wellington region.

Professional team

The veterinary team consists of Geraldine as Lead Vet, together with Urthe, Charlotte, John, Romy, Amber and Krisha. Completing the staff are Blair, Matthew and Helen in reception and veterinary nursing, Meghan, Jen, Hannah and Bianca in reception, and Shona as Animal Attendant.

The clinic notes that qualifying as a veterinarian requires five years of university study and a lifelong continuing education programme to stay up to date, and that the combined experience of its current veterinary team exceeds one hundred years. The nursing staff are responsible for preparing animals for surgery, administering and monitoring anaesthesia, fluid therapy and post-operative pain and wound management plans, as well as taking and processing radiographs, collecting and processing samples for laboratory analysis, performing dental cleanings and polishing and carrying out nurse consultations. The customer care team manages bookings, channels urgent and emergency cases, maintains the database and helps clients follow recommended treatments, such as vaccinations and parasite control.

History and certification

The PETVET brand dates back to the 1990s, although the clinic states that its history and client relationships date back to the 1950s. The centre holds Silver certification as a Cat Friendly Clinic awarded by the ISFM, a goal driven by one of its nurses, who led the team through the training process required to achieve it.
