About Humanimals
Humanimals, veterinary clinic in South Dunedin
Humanimals is a veterinary clinic in Dunedin (New Zealand) that cares for dogs, cats and small animals. It opened in January 1989 under the name Dunedin South Veterinary and later adopted its current name, as the clinic itself explains, to reflect its idea that the way we treat animals is connected to the way we treat each other. It presents itself as a community clinic that operates five days a week and that applies, in its own words, fair prices with good value for money.
Veterinary services for every stage of life
The clinic states that it covers a full range of veterinary services at every stage of a pet's life, from routine check-ups to the treatment of ailments. Among the services it highlights are:
- Preventative healthcare.
- Surgery, with its own operating theatre.
- Diagnostic services.
- Veterinary dentistry.
- Vaccinating puppies and kittens.
- Hospital facilities for the care of animals.
Veterinary and nursing team
The team is made up of veterinarians and veterinary nurses. Among its staff, the clinic identifies veterinarian Dr. DeAnna Fox, presented as the new lead vet, and Dr. Liz Thomas, also a veterinarian. In the nursing area are Casey, Leah, Caitlin, Lorraine, Kymberly, Chanel and Belinda. The clinic describes this team as the one responsible for making pets feel welcome and safe during their time at the centre.
After-hours emergencies
For emergencies that occur outside opening hours, the clinic refers to its VetChat service.
Information for pet owners
In addition to clinical care, Humanimals maintains a section of advice for owners organised by species and topics. It covers dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets and wildlife, and addresses issues such as health care, surgery, dentistry, behaviour, senior animals, pet safety and hygiene, illness and injury, and recommended reading. The clinic also publishes its own educational content, such as a guide on osteoarthritis in pets.
Location and hours
The centre is located in South Dunedin and has off-street parking. It is open Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 17:00, and remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
