DStrap

DStrap is the one-person workshop Olaf Lugten runs in Alkmaar. Each strap is designed and made to order, from the first cut to the final stitch. Rather than produce runs of identical pieces, Lugten adjusts the dimensions, thickness, leather, thread color, and buckle to the customer’s preferences and the watch the strap will fit. The website invites custom requests and lists more than 200 leather hides to choose from.

Materials are part of the story, too. Alongside new leather, Lugten repurposes vintage military bags, belts, and other materials marked by their previous lives; customers can even ask about turning well-worn boots or favorite sneakers into a distinctive strap. Variations in color, stencils, and wear are not hidden—they show where the material came from. The catalog includes leather and canvas straps, special editions, watch rolls, and small leather goods such as card holders.

The workshop and shop at Hazenkoog 62 welcome visitors by appointment only. This is not a walk-in watch store but a working atelier where customers can choose materials and discuss sizing directly with the maker. The online shop displays available designs and accepts custom projects; arrange a visit in advance and send details about the watch or style you have in mind.
