EQ Kuala Lumpur is a five-star urban hotel located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur City Centre, just steps from the Petronas Twin Towers and Suria KLCC. It is part of the Equatorial Group, alongside Equatorial Penang and Equatorial Ho Chi Minh City, and presents itself as the continuation of the legacy of the historic Hotel Equatorial, established in 1973 and redeveloped following an announcement in 2012. The current EQ opened its doors in March 2019 within Equatorial Plaza, a building with Green Building Index certification.

The hotel occupies a 52-storey tower and offers 440 rooms and suites with city views. The accommodation range includes the Deluxe King Twin Tower, Deluxe Twin, Deluxe Queen Double, Premier King, Premier King Infinity, Studio Suite, Executive Suite, AHA! Suite and Presidential Suite categories.

Meetings, banquets and celebrations

EQ has 13 fully equipped meeting and banquet rooms, designed for board meetings, annual general meetings, press conferences, focus groups and training sessions. The 1,025 sqm Diamond Ballroom and Gallery offers flexible options for events of different sizes, such as weddings, exhibitions, large conferences and bespoke celebrations.

Dining and leisure at Sky51

On the highest floor of the building is Sky51, the hotel's urban dining and entertainment space. It is home to Sabayon, a contemporary European cuisine restaurant conceived for occasions such as birthdays, wedding proposals, anniversaries and intimate wedding receptions. Next to it is Blue, a rooftop lounge known for its live music, and an open-air bar with panoramic city views, designed for gatherings, post-event celebrations and private parties with cocktails, live music and DJs. Sky51 was recognised by Time Out as one of Asia's Top 5 Rooftop Bars.

Wellness on the 29th floor

Sanctum Wellness occupies an entire floor dedicated to fitness and wellness. It includes a gym, spa and treatment rooms, a 25-metre infinity pool, a vitality pool, Himalayan salt sauna and an aromatherapy steam room.

Surroundings and access

The hotel's location places it in the city's so-called Golden Triangle, with direct access to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, KLCC Park and the Bukit Bintang district. The hotel notes that Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and its shopping district are about a twelve-minute walk away, while the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre can be reached in about six minutes on foot. Its concierge service offers bespoke experiences in the city, including options centred on the street food of Jalan Alor, KLCC Park, the convention centre, Bukit Bintang, Chinatown and the views from KL Tower.

The hotel's own presentation states that it was recognised as Malaysia's number 1 by TripAdvisor for six consecutive years and that it is the only Malaysian property included in Travel + Leisure's 100 Best Hotels in the World list.
