About SHIBUYA SKY

Above Shibuya’s famous crossing, SHIBUYA SKY makes the ascent part of the experience. Visitors pass through several zones to reach SKY STAGE, an open-air rooftop, and SKY GALLERY, an indoor observation corridor. The complex rises 229 metres and offers a wide view over trains, avenues and the high-rises of western Tokyo. The open sky, wind and visible movement below set it apart from a conventional enclosed observation room.

Published hours are 10:00 am to 10:30 pm, with last admission at 9:20 pm, although rooftop operations can change because of weather or events. Entry is time-slotted, so book once your date is fixed, especially for sunset. Visitors commonly praise the open views, direct connection to Shibuya Station and the building’s design. Recurring drawbacks include the price, sessions selling out and the possibility that wind or rain will close the rooftop.

The venue connects directly to Shibuya Station and its railway and subway lines. Its address is 2-24-12 Shibuya, inside Shibuya Scramble Square. Rooftop rules are specific: some belongings must be placed in lockers, and large luggage cannot be brought upstairs. Allow time for entry checks and for both the indoor gallery and outdoor deck rather than arriving at the last minute.

Compared with the free Tokyo Metropolitan Government observatory, SHIBUYA SKY offers a more designed and open-air visit but requires greater expense and planning. It suits travellers who value a rooftop and want to build the viewpoint into a Shibuya day; Tocho is more practical for a tight budget or a spontaneous stop. Before buying, check the forecast, that day’s operating notices and the availability of your preferred time slot.
