About Sapporo Beer Museum

In the old red-brick complex, the visit explains how a brewery became part of Sapporo’s identity. The official story begins in 1876, when the Kaitakushi agency established a brewery during Hokkaido’s development. Displays connect objects, labels and production changes with the island’s modernisation.

The main exhibition is free; the self-guided audio experience and tasting hall have separate terms and charges. The museum estimates 15–40 minutes for the audio route, available in several languages. It opens 11:00 am–6:00 pm, last admission 5:30 pm; it closes on 31 December and may close for maintenance. Check ahead if you want a guided tour, which has limited slots.

Recent comments describe a compact, informative visit, with tastings a highlight for those who want to compare styles. Others note that many panels are in Japanese and guided slots can sell out. The neighbouring Beer Garden is a natural food stop afterward, but it is a separate venue with its own dining rooms, menus and reservations.
