About Amanohashidate Station
Amanohashidate Station is small, but it organises much of the arrival to one of Kyoto Prefecture’s best-known landscapes. It is about a five-minute walk from the Monju end of the sandbar and close to the sightseeing-boat pier. That location makes it possible to start walking soon after leaving the train or to store luggage before exploring the bay.
The station has a staffed ticket office, toilets, lockers, bicycle parking and a separate tourist information desk. The ticket office is open from 8:15 am to 7:05 pm and the information desk from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; some entrances may close when staff are not on duty. Kyoto Tango Railway notes that there is no bicycle rental or ATM at the station, so bring cash and arrange a bicycle at the piers if you plan to cross the pine-covered sandbar.
Public feedback often mentions the station’s cleanliness, manageable scale and helpful staff, along with its proximity to the main walking routes. Travellers also note that trains do not run as frequently as in a major city, and a missed connection can reshape a day trip. The station is not an attraction in its own right; its value lies in transport links, practical services and advice from the tourist desk during its opening hours.
The official address is 314 Monju, Miyazu, and the published telephone number is +81 772-22-2348. From here, visitors can walk to the beach, Chionji Temple, the piers and several places to stay. Check the last train and boat timetable before planning a return trip; seasonal frequency and service changes matter more than the short distance between the platform and the sights. If arriving outside staffed hours, have the right ticket or app ready and do not assume every entrance will be open.
