About i.i.imabari! Cycle Station
Across from JR Imabari Station, i.i.imabari! Cycle Station helps visitors make an important choice before setting off: begin the ride in town or first head towards the Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridge. It is part of the rental network coordinated by Shimanami Japan and serves as an urban cycling terminal, making it easy for rail arrivals to collect a bike without first travelling to the coast.
The Shimanami Kaido links Imabari and Onomichi across islands and bridges over the Seto Inland Sea; the full route is about 70 kilometres. The operator offers several bicycle types and allows some models to be returned at a different terminal, but conditions depend on the bike. Sport e-bikes, for example, must be returned to their departure point. The operator’s own guidance encourages beginners to plan realistic stages: a full day of riding does not automatically make the complete crossing an easy outing.
The station is listed as open from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm from March through November and until 6:00 pm in winter. Public comments appreciate its position by the railway station and practical cycling services, while some describe queues on busy days and recommend choosing a suitable bicycle carefully. Reserve when the system allows, confirm the model, and check the return location and deadline before leaving. It is the most convenient option for travellers arriving by train and beginning with the urban approach.
