About Hasshoku Center

Hasshoku Center makes buying seafood part of the meal. Hachinohe’s official visitor guide describes a market about 170 metres long, with around 60 businesses selling fish, vegetables and products from southern Aomori. It is not a single restaurant: visitors can browse the stalls, choose ingredients and then decide between the dining areas or Shichirin-mura’s grill space.

At Shichirin-mura, visitors buy seafood from the market stalls and cook it over a rented charcoal brazier inside the centre; two restaurant areas round out the offer with fish and everyday dishes such as ramen or fried chicken. This arrangement lets each group tailor the meal to its appetite and budget, although purchases and services are paid for separately. Restaurants make the visit simpler if you do not want to cook; for groups, grilling together is the most distinctive option.

Public feedback highlights the broad selection, fresh seafood, regional souvenirs and charcoal-grill experience. The size of the venue also brings more visitors on weekends and at lunch, and individual stalls do not all keep the same hours or payment methods. Check the market map before buying, ask which products can be taken into Shichirin-mura, and confirm the current rules and fees for that area.

The centre is in Kawaragi, about ten minutes by car from Hachinohe Station and served by the Hasshoku 100-yen bus or the under-200-yen route, according to the official guide; parking is available. Fish stalls and dining areas do not share one uniform schedule, and much of the complex may close on Wednesdays. It works well at the start or end of a rail trip, provided you check the return-bus timetable.
