About Gemma

Gemma, digital pack opening for Pokémon and One Piece

Gemma is an online platform dedicated to simulated opening of Pokémon and One Piece trading card packs. The user chooses a pack from the catalogue, opens it in the browser, and every card revealed is recorded in their digital binder. From there, they can decide whether to keep it, have it physically shipped to their home, or sell it back to the platform for coins.

The catalogue includes 42 expansions from both franchises. Among the most recent are 30th Celebration, The World's Strongest Warriors, Pitch Black, The Time of Battle, Chaos Rising, Adventure on Kami's Island, Perfect Order, One Piece Heroines, Ascended Heroes, The Azure Sea's Seven, Phantasmal Flames, Carrying on His Will, Mega Evolution, Legacy of the Master, White Flare, and Black Bolt. Each expansion shows the coin cost per pack and the value of the highest card available.

How it works and verification

The system is built around a cryptographic commitment: when the purchase process starts, a secret seed is generated and its SHA-256 hash is shown to the user. That hash fixes the pack contents before payment. The result is derived deterministically from the seed and the user's pack choice. After the reveal, the platform provides the original seed so the customer can recalculate the hash and check that it matches the commitment shown at the time of purchase.

The prices of the cards in the pool are updated periodically based on market references (Cardmarket, via LimitlessTCG). The platform states that the probability rates shown during the purchase process are the same as those used to fill the pack.

Physical shipping and buyback

Cards the user decides to keep become a physical order. Gemma ships from its own inventory when it has the card; if not, it acquires it on the open market — Cardmarket and professional dealers — in the same version and number as the card obtained, in Near Mint condition according to the supplier. An order may arrive in several parcels on different dates, each with its own tracking number communicated by email and monitored until delivery. If a card cannot be located within a reasonable time, the platform credits its full market value in coins.

Alternatively, any revealed card can be instantly sold back to Gemma at 75% of its current market price, either right after opening or later from the binder. The amount is paid in coins, not money, and can be used immediately to open new packs.

Coins, prices, and bonuses

The coin system is the unit used to open packs: 100 coins equal 1 euro and a pack costs 500 coins. Registration grants 1,000 coins, equivalent to two packs. The top-up catalogue includes packages of 1,000, 2,500, 5,250, 11,000, 23,000, and 60,000 coins, with increasing bonuses from 5% to 40% depending on the amount. There is also a Welcome Pack of 3,500 coins for 24.99 euros, with a stated wallet value of 34.99 euros, limited to once per account.

The platform indicates that one in ten packs is guaranteed to contain a hit, understood as a card valued at 500 coins or more. Physical shipping has a flat fee of 10 euros for up to three cards with a minimum value of 10 euros, and 5 euros for each additional card. Coins can only be used to open packs on Gemma and cannot be converted back into money.

Referral program and customer support

The referral program grants 30% of each top-up made by an invited friend, credited in coins and limited to the first top-up. Customer support is provided by email, with a typical response within a few hours according to the platform itself.

Gemma presents itself as a service not affiliated with Bandai, The Pokémon Company, or LimitlessTCG. Packs are digital products with random content that can be independently verified; pack and card images shown at the moment of opening are digital samples, while the corresponding physical cards are purchased on the open market and shipped to the customer. The service is restricted to those over 18 years of age.
